Hi Everyone! Here's Whatโ€™s Happening This Week!

Lake Louise is ice-free as of late May, which means the season is properly underway - and so are the crowds. If you haven't sorted your Parks Canada shuttle ticket or Roam Superpass for Moraine Lake yet, now is the time to look at alternatives. Paradise Lodge & Bungalows sits about 1 km from Lake Louise, close enough to walk to the lakeshore and pick up the Lake Connector shuttle across to Moraine Lake, which takes the parking question off the table entirely.

Parks Canada crews are currently sandbagging along the Bow and Pipestone rivers after a flood watch was issued for Banff National Park. No closures or evacuations at this point, but the official advice is to dust off your emergency kit - worth doing before you arrive, not after.

Canmore's Vegan Chef Challenge wrapped in April, with Kain Tayo taking first place and several of the competing restaurants keeping their vegan options on the menu going forward.

A new book reconstructs the 2024 wildfire below Marmot Basin in detail that's hard to set aside - at its peak, the fire was burning at 386,000 kilowatts per metre. For context, that's roughly seven times the energy released at Hiroshima. It's a useful read for understanding what the Rockies are dealing with

If visiting Lake Louise and Moraine Lake is high on your list, Paradise Lodge & Bungalows is a very convenient place to stay. The cabins sit about 1 km from Lake Louise, which means you can walk to the lakeshore in around 15โ€“20 minutes instead of worrying about the busy parking lots.

That location also makes visiting Moraine Lake easier. With a Parks Canada shuttle ticket, you can board the Lake Connector shuttle that runs between the two lakes. After a day exploring the trails and viewpoints, returning to a quiet cabin surrounded by trees feels a world away from the crowds
