Hi Everyone! Here's What’s Happening This Week!

A 74-site glamping campground on the Staircase Lands is currently under review by the Town of Canmore. Wall tents on wooden platforms, no RVs, no open fires - it's being marketed as "Miners Camp," which is either a knowing nod to local history or a generous rebranding of sleeping in a tent. Public feedback is open until 20 March.

The Rimrock Resort reopens on 1 June after a $100M renovation - thermal pools, an infinity pool, a new restaurant, and views that haven't changed. It's also now the first Emblems Collection hotel in North America.

Canmore's Vegan Chef Challenge runs all of April, with Iron Goat, Kain Tayo, The Bankhead, and One98eight among the restaurants adding plant-based menus. More participants still to be announced.

If you're in Jasper without a plan, the SkyTram gets you to an alpine viewpoint on Whistlers Mountain in seven minutes. Marmots likely. Long hike optional.

If you want to experience the alpine scenery around Jasper without committing to a long mountain hike, the Jasper SkyTram is one of the simplest ways to do it. In about seven minutes, the tram carries you high onto Whistler’s Mountain, where wide views open up across Jasper National Park, glacier-fed rivers, and surrounding mountain ranges.

Once at the upper station, you can take an easy boardwalk stroll or hike the short Whistlers Summit Trail for even broader views. Interpretive panels explain the landscape and wildlife, and you may spot marmots, pikas, or bighorn sheep nearby. It’s an easy way to reach an alpine viewpoint that would otherwise take hours to hike.

πŸ›ŒHotels - 10 Reasons to Stay at the Rimrock When It Opens This Summer

The Rimrock has been closed for a massive $100M renovation and reopens June 1st as something completely new. Here's why it's worth checking out:

  1. It's brand new - not a quick refresh, a complete top-to-bottom transformation.

  2. First of its kind - it's now the first Emblems Collection hotel in North America, which is kind of a big deal.

  3. The views are ridiculous - perched on Sulphur Mountain with the whole Bow Valley spread out below you.

  4. Proper wellness facilities - new thermal pools, sauna, the works - right next door to the Upper Hot Springs, too.

  5. Parker's Table looks great - seasonal Canadian food with a focus on local ingredients and producers.

  6. The Social lounge - all-day bar and restaurant with live music in the evenings.

  7. Gondola is literally next door - great if you want to get up the mountain without much effort.

  8. Quieter than downtown - you're up on the mountain, but there's a free shuttle into Banff whenever you need it.

  9. Infinity pool - mountain views, warm water, you get the idea.

  10. Worth seeing early - it's a fresh start for one of Banff's most iconic spots. June is a good time to go.
