Hi Everyone! Here's What’s Happening This Week!

Several days of heavy rain was apparently just the warm-up act. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Banff and Lake Louise, with 20-30 cm forecast and higher elevations potentially seeing over 30 cm. Road closures are possible. March in the Rockies remains committed to the bit.

Worth knowing if you're planning an evening out: the Bow Valley Parkway is operating under its spring night restriction. The 17-km section from Fireside Picnic Area to Johnston Canyon is off-limits to all traffic - including cyclists and pedestrians - between 8 pm and 8 am. The restriction runs until June 25 and has been in place since March 1. It exists to protect wildlife using the corridor after dark.

On the more straightforward end of the week, the Fairmont Banff Springs is offering a behind-the-scenes food tour through the hotel - small groups, Alberta-sourced tastings, chef demonstrations, and enough history woven in to make the evening feel like more than dinner. Worth considering if the forecast has you looking for reasons to stay indoors.

There is plenty happening this week. Dive into the event listings below, or check out the detailed events page on our website.

This small-group experience offers a chance to go behind the scenes of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. You’ll explore different dining areas inside the historic building while enjoying a series of tastings featuring locally sourced ingredients from Alberta farms.

Along the way, you’ll meet chefs, watch a cooking demonstration, and learn about the hotel’s history as you wander its grand hallways. With food, drinks, and storytelling throughout the evening, it’s a great way to experience the Banff Springs from a different perspective.

🏠 More Space, Less Hotel: Apartment-Style Stays in Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise

Banff's standard hotel rooms are fine - until you're four people sharing one bathroom and paying $30 a day to park. These three properties give you kitchen access, more floor space, and the kind of setup that suits a multi-day mountain trip.

πŸ›‹οΈ Basecamp Suites Banff - Centrally located on Banff Avenue, these suite-style rooms mean you can pick up groceries from the IGA two minutes away and eat like a human being rather than relying on restaurant meals every night. No shuttle faff, no resort fees buried in the small print. Read The Reviews And Book

πŸ”οΈ Blackstone Mountain Lodge - Situated in Canmore rather than Banff, which means lower nightly rates, easier parking, and a quieter base camp. The suite layouts work well for families or groups who need actual living space. It's a 20-minute drive to Banff townsite - a reasonable trade for the extra room and the lower stress levels. 🌲 Lake Louise Inn - If your plans revolve around the lake itself, staying here saves you the daily commute from Banff. The apartment-style units have kitchenettes, which matters when you're there for two or three nights, and the lodge restaurant prices start to add up. Read The Reviews And Book
