Canmore's wastewater plant is having another rough week, and this time you can smell it from town. The Town has gone back to hydrogen peroxide and a mobile sludge system to keep oxygen levels up while the actual fix stays under construction. No timeline yet, but crews are still working through it.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Bow Valley, with daytime highs in the low to mid-30s expected for the next three days and little relief overnight. Skip the car as a waiting room for kids or pets, and plan outdoor time around the cooler morning hours.

If you'd rather trade the heat for something quieter, a three-hour guided walk swaps Banff Avenue for backcountry trails past geothermal springs and hidden waterfalls, with wildlife spotting along the way.

🌫️ Alberta Air Quality Turns Unhealthy. Alberta has had a quiet wildfire season, but smoke from the Northwest Territories, BC, and the Pacific Northwest has pushed air quality into unhealthy territory province-wide. Banff and Canmore remain moderate for now.

🔥 Emerald Lake Fire Already Out. A small lightning-caused wildfire near Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park has been extinguished, but Parks Canada says forest fuels are primed for new fires

🫐 Bears Have Found the Buffet. Black and grizzly bears are feeding along Banff's trails and roads during berry season. Trail runners and cyclists face much higher risk and should slow down and carry bear spray.
