Hi Everyone! Here's What’s Happening This Week!

A slide near Rundle Rock has closed Golf Course Road in both directions this week, and crews are also keeping people away from Bow Falls while the debris gets sorted out. No word yet on when it reopens, so give it a wide berth if you are out that way.

Out in Kananaskis, the state of emergency has ended, but the highway and trail network has not caught up. Powderface Trail, Highway 742 and a long list of others remain closed from flood damage, and Rawson Lake and Sarrail Ridge have just been added for bear activity. Check the full trail closures list before you commit to a plan.

If Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are still on your list, the shuttle logistics alone can eat half a day. This full-day tour strings them together with Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge and Johnston Canyon, so someone else handles the timing.

For a quieter approach to Louise, these cabins put the lake shore about twenty minutes away on foot, no parking required.

🏔️ Got questions about planning your Rockies trip?

Every week, readers email us asking where to stay, what to prioritise, and how to make the most of their time here. We've put together a one-to-one consultation service so we can answer those questions properly - tailored to your trip, not a generic list. Learn More.

Lake Louise and Moraine Lake take more planning than most visitors expect. This full-day tour keeps it simple, linking them with Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge and Johnston Canyon, so you can focus on the stops rather than the shuttles, parking and timing.

🏔️ Fresh from the Rockies

🚧 Landslide Shuts Golf Course Road. A slide near Rundle Rock has closed Golf Course Road in both directions, with crews also keeping the public clear of Bow Falls. No reopening time yet, but the rest of the townsite carries on as normal.

🥾 Kananaskis Reopens, Trails Don't. The state of emergency has ended, but flood damage keeps Highway 742, Powderface Trail, and dozens more closed. See the current trail closures report for the full list, including a new bear closure at Rawson Lake and Sarrail Ridge.

🎣 Cascade Creek Off Limits, Permanently Ish. Fishing stays banned in Cascade Creek to protect a small reintroduced population of threatened Westslope Cutthroat Trout. Parks Canada notes the fine for casting a line here tops out at $25,000.

🌊 River Safety Advisory Lifted. Eight days after heavy rain pushed the Bow and Elbow rivers to dangerous levels, the Calgary Fire Department has lifted the advisory, though water remains cold with patches of reduced visibility.

🌼 Canmore Puts Out a Weed Wanted List. The Town has named six invasive plants as its most-wanted, including oxeye daisy and black henbane, and will spray target areas with 48 hours' notice. Pretty is not the same as innocent.
