Hi Everyone! Here's What’s Happening This Week!
Stoney Trail picked up a new entry in this week's bear report - a grizzly bluff charge, now part of the full list of warnings and closures across Banff, Kananaskis and the mountain parks, updated Saturday at noon.
Kananaskis has technically returned to normal, with the State of Local Emergency lifted, but that is not the same as reopened. A number of backcountry campgrounds and trails remain closed, including Highway 742 and Powderface Trail, so check before you drive out that way.
For something lower-risk, a local mother-and-son team spent a year travelling through 34 countries checking out food and walking tours along the way. They then came home to Banff and Canmore and built their own version. Our readers get 20 per cent off with the code WHATSONBANFF.
And if the glacier itself is more your interest than the trail warnings around it, the lodge near the Athabasca Glacier empties out once the day trippers leave, leaving guests with the ice and the sound of meltwater until morning.

Erin & Evan of Rocky Mountain Food & Walking Tours
Explore Banff and Canmore on guided food and walking tours led by locals.
These tours started with a mother and son spending a year travelling through 34 countries, joining walking and food tours along the way. When they returned home to Banff and Canmore, they used what they had learned to create tours with local stories, guides who know the towns well, and food worth stopping for.
There are four tours to choose from. The Banff and Canmore walking tours run for about two hours and are a great way to get a feel for each town. The food tours run longer, with local food and drink stops along the way, so come hungry!

If Banff Avenue has lost its appeal, a three-hour guided walk trades it for quiet trails, geothermal springs, and a couple of waterfalls most first-time visitors never find, with wildlife spotted along the way more often than not.
