Hi Everyone! Here's What’s Happening This Week!

The Banff Springs is swapping the clatter of ski boots for the flicker of candlelight. On 6 March, the castle plays host to acoustic tributes to Adele and Coldplay, providing a classier alternative for those who find the local nightlife a bit too rowdy. It’s warm, it’s melodic, and it’s a far cry from the usual mountain mayhem.

You’ll want that warmth, as the weather is about to lose its temper. While Sunday offers a bit of Vitamin D, the 7-day forecast suggests winter has finally remembered its job description. Expect snow to land by Monday, making those thermal layers mandatory gear rather than a suggestion.

In more athletic news, the valley is bracing for the return of the BeAPro hockey camps. Canmore’s own Noah Philp and Sam Jones are running the show again this summer, focusing on mindset and skill development. It’s a welcome relief for anyone tired of the Highway 1 commute for sports. From the refined echoes of the Springs to the frantic energy of the rink, there is plenty to distract you from the impending frostbite.

There is plenty more happening this week. Dive into the event listings below, or check out the detailed events page on our website.

Reaching Moraine Lake and Lake Louise in summer often means navigating parking restrictions and fitting your plans around fixed tour schedules. This open-top bus tour takes a more flexible approach, with hourly departures that let you manage your time.

Travelling by double-decker bus, open on warm days and enclosed when it’s cooler, you’ll visit Moraine Lake for a time on the Rockpile Trail before continuing to Lake Louise to explore the shoreline at your own pace. A lunch break in Lake Louise Village is included, and the full day runs 8 to 10 hours, so it doesn’t feel rushed.

πŸ”οΈ Fresh from the Rockies

πŸ•―οΈ Banff Springs goes full acoustic. Swap the aprΓ¨s-ski ruckus for something classier. These Candlelight Concerts at the castle centre on Adele and Coldplay tributes. It’s significantly more sophisticated than your usual pub crawl, and warmer.

❄️ Brace yourselves, winter’s actually bothering to turn up. Sunday’s sun is a fleeting treat before Monday and Tuesday bring proper snow. Check the 7-day forecast to realise why your thermal long johns are mandatory gear this week.

⛸️ Banff and Canmore Rinks Open. Grab your skates and check the Banff ice conditions before you head out. For those further down the valley, here are the Canmore rink updates. Do try to stay upright.

🚌 New winter bus routes for frozen toes. Since visitation barely slows down, Roam Transit is finally linking the Fenlands to the Banff centre. No more trekking a kilometre through the snow for your evening hockey fix. Marvellous.

πŸ’ Canmore’s local lads return for more. Professional hockey players Noah Philp and Sam Jones are running BeAPro hockey camps again this summer. It saves parents the tedious drive to Cochrane, focusing on mindset and development right in the Bow Valley centre.

πŸ‘Ÿ Elk Street is finally getting a revamp. Rather than squeezing past bin-lorries, pedestrians get wider pavements to ease the downtown crush. It’s a slow march, though, design starts in 2026, one block at a time.

Johnston Canyon remains open in winter and, honestly, we think it’s the best time to visit. The frozen waterfalls are spectacular; you’ll often see ice climbers on the walls, and the biggest bonus is the quieter trails. Guided tours are available if you’re nervous about winter driving, want to avoid the stress of parking, or simply prefer to leave the planning to someone else.
