The Canmore Hill stretch of Highway 742 is open again after being closed for rockfall risk, which means Grassi Lakes Day Use, the Upper and Interpretive trails and Reclaimer are all back in play. Expect company at the trailhead.

Parking down the road remains less encouraging. Canmore handed out 741 tickets at Quarry Lake between 1 June and 13 August, most of them for simply not paying. At $20 per two hours, a full day costs more than the $90 fine, which explains a good deal of the behaviour.

🔥 Jasper Firefighters Explain Their Work. Wildland crews take the stage at Whistlers Theatre on Monday 24 August at 7 p.m., covering Jasper's fire history and management, the tools they use, and how prescribed burns cut risk.

☀️ Sunshine wins out after one stormy Sunday - Sunday brings a 60% chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm, cooling to 20°C, before Monday clears out sunny at 24°C, and Tuesday holds that sunshine at 26°C.
