Hi Everyone! Here's Whatโs Happening This Week!
A snow drought across the western United States has pushed American skiers north in significant numbers this season, with Sunshine Village, Mount Norquay, and Lake Louise all reporting a 50% increase in U.S. visitors. Sunshine Village alone has recorded 948 centimetres of snowfall - the kind of number that travels. If you haven't booked your ski trip yet, the slopes are still in good shape.
Canmore council has added tourism to its new strategic plan - the first time it has appeared as a named priority. Visitors already spent an estimated $1 billion in the Canmore-Kananaskis area in 2025.
If Moraine Lake is on your list for the summer, note that Wednesday, the 15th, is Parks Canada shuttle booking day. 8.01 am on Wednesday will be too late. Book your ticket before you make any other plans. We walk you through what you need to do in this video.
The Legacy Trail between Banff and Canmore remains closed until mid-April at the earliest. Snow, ice, and snowplough debris are the listed reasons. It will open when it opens.
There is plenty happening this week. Dive into the event listings below, or check out the detailed events page on our website.

If youโre travelling with family or a group, having space to spread out can make a big difference. Blackstone Mountain Lodge in Canmore offers one, two, and three-bedroom suites with full kitchens, making longer stays or family trips much easier. You can prepare simple meals, keep snacks on hand, and enjoy the extra space that comes with separate bedrooms and living areas.
The lodge is in Canmore, about 20 minutes from Banff and minutes from the gates of Banff National Park. You still get the same dramatic Rocky Mountain scenery, but in a town that feels a little more relaxed. It works well if you want easy access to the park while staying somewhere that feels more like a home than a hotel.

The top prize for the highest-earning team is a 3-day CMH heli-hike trip for two.
๐ฒ Legacy Trail Still Closed for Winter. The 26.8 km paved path between Banff and Canmore remains closed until mid-April at the earliest. Snow, ice, and snowplough debris are all listed hazards - the trail runs alongside the Trans-Canada for much of its length.
๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Jasper Pride Returns to the Mountains. The 17th Annual Jasper Pride & Ski Festival runs April 10-19, with 10 days of events spread across Marmot Basin and downtown Jasper - from a flag parade skied down from the mid-mountain chalet to a Shawnee Kish concert on Connaught Drive. The Wonderland Pride Gala closes out the weekend in the Jasper Activity Centre's curling rink.

โYour Questions Answered
๐ Is October a good time to visit Banff? October is a shoulder-season sweet spot - crowds are thinner, trails are quieter, and autumn colour and early snow often share the same stage in the same week.
๐ธ What is the best time of day to visit the Three Sisters Viewpoint? Early morning or late afternoon gives the best light - low-angle sun deepens the reflections, and midday can be harsh on the iconic pond view.
๐ What hotel spas are available in Banff and the surrounding area? Several hotels offer everything from rooftop mineral pools to full-service treatment rooms - Banff's hotel spa options cover a wide range of budgets and experiences.
๐๏ธ Lake Louise: Sleep Where the Action Is
Lake Louise draws enormous crowds for a reason, but driving in daily from Banff adds time, cost, and the genuine risk of getting turned away at the car park. These three properties put you on the right side of that equation.
๐ฒ Paradise Lodge & Bungalows - Spread across the forest not far from the lakeshore, this is the closest thing to a quiet retreat at one of the busiest sites in the Rockies. No shuttle, no early alarm to secure parking - just a short walk to the water before the day-trippers arrive. Read The Reviews And Book
๐จ Lake Louise Inn - A practical, well-run base right in the village that won't require you to sell a kidney. Multiple room types suit couples and families alike, and the location keeps you central to the lake, Moraine, and the ski area without the premium that comes with a lakeview postcode. Read The Reviews And Book
๐ฟ Moraine Lake Lodge - Moraine Lake road is closed to private vehicles during peak season, which means that if you're not staying here, you're queuing for a shuttle at an ungodly hour. Staying at the lodge solves that entirely - you're already there. Arguably the best-situated lodge in the entire national park. Read The Reviews And Book

The Banff Gondola is one of Banffโs most popular attractions. It offers an easy way to reach the summit of Sulphur Mountain without hiking. The short 8-minute ride leads to observation decks, a boardwalk, and an interpretive centre. For a special winter experience, head up at sunset and catch the Nightrise light show.
